Introduction

Jessore (or Jashahor) is a district in south western Bangladesh with a population of around 2,440,693. It is located in the Khulna administrative division.[1] It is bordered by India in the West. Jessore produces a variety of vegetables in all seasons. The famous crawling perch is famous too, but due over population and lack of water in the rivers and lakes disappearing slowly. It is famous for its date-sugar called "Patali" in Bengali and it made from the sap(juice) of local grown date trees and then cooked and thicken the sap and cristallized with old method, which is the farmer familiar for generation. Patali, which is very famous all over Bangladesh as well as outside the country, is mainly produced at Khajura (Khajura bazar), but most trees are in Keshabpur and Monirampur area and they do the same thing with the juice. Jessore has eight sub-districts (upazillas), namely, Abhaynagar, Bagherpara, Chowgacha, Jessore-Sadar, Jhikargacha, Keshobpur, Monirampur, & Sharsha.
